Dragon's Retreat

a journey to the edge

This conceptual project was designed and envisioned in collaboration with Igor Neminov. This retreat is situated in the Kuril island, pays a tribute to the erasure of the Japanese heritage and many temples that one stood in the Sakhalin Islands. Although this structure is a loose interpretation of the vernacular Japanese architecture, the intent was to create a sacred destination for spiritual respite, for both local and foreign visitors.

The retreat is configured to host twelve rooms, elevated above a grand foyer space that would be centered around a spiraling walkway that would take the visitors up to the communal space above. One that would offer a spectacular and infinite view of the horizon.
